Tasmania: Boss Baz helps Raquel to treble
By Adam Williams, September 28, 2016 - 10:47 AM

Last season’s premier apprentice Raquel Clark was in fine form at Devonport last Sunday with a trio of victors.
She set the tone in the opener, a maiden plate over 1000 metres, with the Graeme McCulloch-trained Canam, who finished strongly off a cold ride to break his duck at his 10th outing.
Clark’s second and third wins came courtesy of her master, Barry Campbell.
The first of them came via in-form five-year-old mare Zigold, who came from just off the pace to take out the benchmark 72 handicap over 1650 metres.
Trainer and jockey later combined to take the benchmark 72 handicap over 1000 metres with promising sprinter Teriki.
The daughter of Written Tycoon didn’t jump as brilliantly as usual and was forced to race three wide on speed throughout but was still able to draw clear of her rivals in the concluding stages.
She has now notched five wins and five placings from 14 outings.
Baker’s double
Wesley Vale trainer John Keys and comeback hoop Troy Baker also combined for a pair of wins at the Devonport meeting.
They opened their account with lightly raced Magnus mare Fill Ya Boots, who completed an extended double by leading throughout to take the Class 1 handicap over 1000 metres at her first run back from a break.
Honest gelding Don’t We Love It completed the pair’s double.
The Falvelon gelding came from midfield for a narrow but overdue victory in the benchmark 62 handicap over 1350 metres.
Don’t We Love It had finished runner-up at his previous three outings and had little luck when posted wide throughout in the most recent of those showings.
