Beat goes on

Summer is officially here and that means the Brisbane carnival is heating up ahead of Queensland's richest race day, the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast next month.

The action continues at Eagle Farm this Saturday where the John O'Shea-trained Beatniks will tackle the Just Now Handicap, coming off a gutsy first-up third.

Support feature on the Eagle Farm card is the listed Mode Plate, while in Adelaide a number of Magic Millions Cup-bound sprinters will duke it out in the City of Marion Stakes.

Meanwhile the eyes of the racing world be on Sha Tin for Sunday's International day, and Joel Marshall will provide his usual comprehensive preview of the big four races in this week's edition.

Who'll reign in Brisbane? Peter Lyne's preview will lead this week's Winning Post.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the Moonee Valley and Canterbury night meetings plus Moe's day meeting, as well as fields, colours and selections for Coffs Harbour Cup day, Wellington and the twilight action at Doomben, Devonport and Port Lincoln.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Flemington in Melbourne, Rosehill in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Eagle Farm in Brisbane and Ascot in Perth, then we kick on to Cranbourne for Saturday night racing.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Stawell (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Kembla Grange (NSW edition) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings including Werribee Cup day and Italian Plate day at Tatura plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
