Carry on, Ecuador
By Winning Post, January 15, 2017 - 2:18 PM

Handy stayer Ecuador surprised punters (he was $9 to $15) when he resumed on Christmas Eve with a win over 1400 metres in the December Handicap.

They're sure to be warier when the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained seven-year-old steps out over the same journey in this Saturday's Carrington Stakes at Randwick.

Early in 2014 Ecuador kicked off his campaign with successive wins over 1400 metres, but between then and Christmas Eve 2016 he hadn't won over less than 1800 metres.

Will he get the Carrington cash? Joel Marshall's preview leads this week's Winning Post, and as usual this edition will include Australia's best form coverage across three days.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the Cranbourne and Canterbury night meetings plus Hamilton's day meeting, as well as fields, colours and selections for Tamworth, Canberra, Ipswich and the twilight action at Port Lincoln.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Moonee Valley in Melbourne, Randwick in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Eagle Farm in Brisbane and Ascot in Perth.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Yarra Valley (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Beaumont Newcastle (NSW edition) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings including Hobart Guineas day and Great Western Cup day plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
