Catch her if you can

With an embarrassment of riches to choose from ahead of Saturday's $1 million Blue Diamond, champion jockey Craig Williams plumped for Lindsay Park filly Catchy, whom he's ridden to three straight wins including the Diamond Preview and Prelude.

While David Hayes is no stranger to Diamond success, his co-trainers (son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig) get a super chance to open their account in Victoria's richest juvenile race.

Has Craig made the right choice? Tony Kneebone's Diamond tip will lead this week's Winning Post.

The Diamond is one of three Group 1 races as the Caulfield carnival kicks off, with the sprinters matching motors in the Oakleigh Plate and the weight-for-agers duking it out in the Futurity.

Meanwhile at Randwick, Winx will be long odds-on to make it 15 wins straight in Sydney's first Group 1 of 2017, the Chipping Norton Stakes.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the Moonee Valley night meeting, plus the daytime action at Werribee and Quirindi Cup day as well as fields, colours and selections for Ballina, Scone and Ipswich.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Caulfield in Melbourne, Randwick in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Doomben in Brisbane and Ascot in Perth.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Yarra Valley (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Beaumont Newcastle (NSW edition) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
