Clearly going places
By Winning Post, May 21, 2017 - 9:49 AM

Newcastle trainer Kris Lees has placed his lightly raced five-year-old Clearly Innocent to perfection, notching eight wins from 14 starts including the 2016 Country Championship Final and two successive editions of the Luskin Star Stakes at Scone.

The Not a Single Doubt gelding has amassed more than $600,000 in prizemoney despite having had only six starts (for one win) in town.

He can take his bank past $1 million on Saturday, but he'll need to step right up in class for Australia's newest Group 1 race, the Kingsford-Smith Cup (1300m) at Eagle Farm.

Can he do it? Peter Lyne's preview will lead this week's Winning Post.

Elsewhere, and at other end of the distance scale, Ladbrokes Park plays host to the Australian Hurdle and Steeplechase.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for Geelong, Beef Week Cup day at casino and the nighttime action at Cranbourne as well as fields, colours and selections for Canberra and Sunshine Coast.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Ladbrokes Park in Melbourne, Randwick in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Eagle Farm in Brisbane and Belmont in Perth.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Warracknabeal (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Newcastle (NSW edition) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings including cup days at Echuca and Nowra plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 6, while elsewhere in the paper Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
