Tasmania: Wesley's win a new high for Glenn

Wesley Vale trainer Glenn Stevenson celebrated the biggest win of his career when I’m Wesley ($2.80 favourite) took the listed $100,000 TTC Newmarket Handicap (1200m) at Launceston on Wednesday night.
The I Am Invincible gelding enjoyed a good trail just off the pace under Raquel Clark before wearing down Gee Gee Red Prince, who had kicked clear on straightening, with Lord Da Vinci also running on nicely to snatch second prize.
Stevenson’s charge had broken the track record over the same route a fortnight earlier and ran another slick time on Wednesday night (1:08.94) to bring up his fifth consecutive victory.
John Blacker took training honours on the night with a pair of winners, opening up with Blaze Forth, who took the benchmark 82 handicap over 1200 metres at his first run back from a break.
It was the first time the Court Command gelding had been successful while new but he benefited from a perfect box-seat trail under Jason Benbow.
Blacker completed his double with in-form gelding Gallow Gate, who made it four wins from his past five outings by taking the benchmark 68 handicap over 2100 metres under Chris Graham.
Regular fly-in hoop Anthony Darmanin also celebrated a double, kicking off with the Adam Trinder-trained City of Dreams, who is unbeaten from two outings after leading throughout in the Class 1 handicap over 1100 metres. The three-year-old Ilovethiscity filly scored by three lengths.
Darmanin later teamed with Cameron Thompson to take the benchmark 68 handicap over 1400 metres with Tammany Hall, who finished strongly from midfield for a narrow victory.
