Excitement builds
By Winning Post, December 10, 2017 - 2:06 PM

The third of Randwick's big handicap miles is on this Saturday and Australia's latest millionaire will be there.

Red Excitement ticked over a million dollars in earnings with his third-place cheque in the recent Festival Stakes at Rosehill.

The veteran started at $13 in the Festival: good odds for a horse who stretched Winx's neck (sort of) earlier in the campaign.

Red Excitement was in good form last summer, winning the Group 3 Summer Cup and listed Gosford Cup, but hasn't won since. Trainer Gerald Ryan believes he can change that in the Villiers.

Is he right? Joel Marshall's preview will lead this week's Winning Post.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the Moonee Valley and Canterbury night meetings plus Moe during the day, as well as fields, colours and selections for Scone, Coffs Harbour, Ipswich, the twilight cards at Warren, Morphettville and Hobart and the night racing at Sunshine Coast.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Caulfield in Melbourne, Randwick in Sydney, Morphettville Parks in Adelaide, Doomben in Brisbane and Ascot in Perth, plus there's a Saturday night meeting at Cranbourne.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Colac (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Kembla Grange (NSW edition) and Gold Coast (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
