Autumn has only just begun but the two-year-olds have their grand final this Saturday in the $3.5 million Longines Golden Slipper.

Powerhouse Tony McEvoy-trained filly Sunlight has been ultra-impressive in four starts this campaign and is on track to become the first filly to complete the Magic Millions Classic-Golden Slipper double, but she'll have plenty of competition.

And the Slipper is just one of five Group 1s on what many regard as the best day's racing on the Australian calendar. 

The three-year-olds battle it out in the Rosehill Guineas, the weight-for-agers tackle the Ranvet Stakes, the sprinter-milers go head-to-head in the George Ryder and the speedsters match motors in The Galaxy.

Speaking of sprinters, the night before they'll be facing off in the final Group 1 of the Melbourne autumn, Moonee Valley's William Reid Stakes.

The main action on Saturday in Victoria is Mornington Cup day.
