Tasmania: Carr quartet draws curtain on nights
By Adam Williams, April 26, 2018 - 11:10 AM

Siggy Carr had a night out at Launceston on Anzac Day eve, booting home four winners in the final night meeting of the season.
She set the tone early, leading throughout in the first two events on the card, kicking off with the Cameron Thompson-trained Medard in the 1220-metre maiden.
The win was the first leg of Thompson’s first double, as he later took the benchmark 70 handicap over the same trip with Concentrate, who stormed home from back in the field for a last-stride win under Hayley McCarthy.
Carr took both 1220 maidens on the program, her second win coming via the Edwin Batt-trained Knitting, who scored a dominant all-the-way victory.
The former top apprentice later combined with Bill Ryan for victory in the Class 1 handicap with Sh’bourne Star, who made it back-to-back wins after shedding her maiden tag at the start prior.
On Tuesday night, to use the pacing terminology, she enjoyed a one-out/one-back trail.
Dual-code trainer Adrian Duggan completed Carr’s quartet of wins when his charge Sentry Duty completed a winning hat-trick in the benchmark 70 handicap over 2130 metres.
The Grey Swallow gelding has been up since October but has netted six wins in the preparation — a great feat for a seven-year-old — and he will now head for a much deserved break.
John Blacker also prepared a double at the meeting, kicking off with Welcome Invader, who led throughout in the benchmark 64 handicap over 1620 metres under Shuji Amano.
In-form galloper Zatacla completed Blacker’s double, bringing up a hat-trick of wins in the benchmark 80 handicap over 1420 metres. The Al Maher gelding is likely to back up at Hobart on Sunday then head for a spell.
