SA: Anna all the way for longshot double
By Peter Neall, June 18, 2018 - 4:31 PM

With leading rider Jamie Kah absent for a second successive Saturday, apprentice Anna Jordsjo took the riding honours at Morphettville last week with a big-odds double.

Jordsjo struck first in race two, the benchmark 70 Hughes Limousines Handicap (1600m) for three-year-olds, partnering Turnpike ($31) to victory for Millicent trainer Dean Saxon.
Turnpike, a Street Cry gelding formerly in the Godolphin camp, was a last-start winner on a heavy track at Penola and appreciated the soft 7 surface at Morphettville, leading all the way to register his first Adelaide success.
Turnpike beat $1.75 favourite Danger Deal by a length but had to survive a protest from Jordsjo’s fellow apprentice Ryusei Sakai on third-placed Canford.
Jordsjo completed her double by leading all the way again on the Ken Sweeney-trained Zarace ($21) in the benchmark 70 Holdfast Insurance Handicap (1100m).
Raquel Clark and Justin Huxtable were other apprentices to score on what was a good day for the juniors.

While his number-one rider, Jamie Kah, was at Moonee Valley riding Showpero to victory for Wayne Francis and Glen Kent, Tony McEvoy went further ahead on the Adelaide trainers premiership with a running double.
Combining with Paul Gatt, McEvoy opened his account with $3.40 favourite Casino Club in the benchmark 70 Darley Handicap, over the revised distance of 1950 metres.
Casino Club, having her third start for McEvoy after transferring from the Murray Bridge stable of Roslyn Day, came from midfield to win convincingly.
She may have her next start in  the $25,000 Port Augusta Cup (2303m), third leg of the Outback Cups Championship, on July 8.
With the aid of Victorian hoop Andrew Mallyon, McEvoy completed his double when Super Haze came from a better than midfield position to win the benchmark 82 Quayclean Handicap, also over a revised distance (2400m).
The revised distances resulted when the two races were switched from the main track to the Parks circuit due to a slippery patch at a crossing.

Tony, Jamie please punters again
The old firm of trainer Tony McEvoy and jockey Jamie Kah were at it again at Balaklava on Wednesday with a double apiece.
They combined for the win of Scrap Dragon ($3 equal favourite) over 1300 metres.
McEvoy also won with First Diamond ($2.45 favourite), who scored over 1050 metres with Jason Holder aboard.
Kah completed her double when the Sue Jaensch-trained  Lady Soma ($2.25 favourite) scored over 1200 metres.
