She's back
By Winning Post, August 12, 2018 - 10:39 AM

The build-up to spring goes up a cog this Saturday with the return of champion Australian racehorse Winx at Randwick. And this time it's personal.

The mighty mare, unbeaten from her past 25 starts including 18 Group 1s, resumes in the newly rebadged Group 1 Winx Stakes over 1400m at weight-for-age.

The Randwick program also includes the Silver Shadow and Up & Coming for the new-season three-year-olds, the Show County and the Toy Show.

In Melbourne there's the Peter Lawrence, the Vain and Quezette at Caulfield, while in Adelaide some of SA's spring stars resume in the Spring Stakes.

Can anyone halt the Winx juggernaut? Highly unlikely, but Joel Marshall's Randwick preview will lead this week's Winning Post.

Our form coverage kicks off on Friday with full form guides for the meetings at bet365 Geelong and Taree plus fields, colours and selections for Albury and Ipswich.

The metro racing this Saturday is at Caulfield in Melbourne, Randwick in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide, Gold Coast in Queensland and Belmont in Perth.

Winning Post carries full-colour liftout guides for all those meetings plus Seymour (Vic/SA/Tas edition), Kembla Grange (NSW edition) and Ipswich (Queensland edition), as well as fields, tips, ratings and/or colours for other TAB Saturday cards.

On Sunday we've got liftout formguides for four more TAB meetings including Taree Cup day and Grand National Steeplechase day at Sportsbet-Ballarat plus fields, ratings, tips and colours for a stack more Sunday and Monday programs.

Don't forget Winning Post now carries trackwork reports for all four Melbourne training tracks, all three in Sydney, Morphettville in Adelaide and a general Brisbane report.

Away from the form, we've got news columns from Queensland, NSW, six Victorian districts, SA and Tasmania.

Our readers have their say on page 4, while further back in the book Shane Templeton reminisces, Paul Richards presents his unique take on the sport, Tony Kneebone brings you his Snippets column and Number Cruncher delivers the stats that matter.

Winning Post costs $5 and is available Thursday afternoon in selected Melbourne newsagents, the crack of dawn Friday elsewhere.
