Wimmera: Simon stoked at Wildwood win
By Josh Mackay, September 18, 2018 - 9:55 AM

Horsham trainer Simon Gebert’s run of frustration with his galloper Wildwood Court ended with an overdue victory last Saturday at Echuca.
It was the first win since May last year for the Court of Jewels seven-year-old.
In benchmark 58 company over 1600 metres with Jarrod Lorensini in the saddle, Wildwood Court got a nice run in midfield, easing into clear galloping room before the home turn and making up good ground.
Once balanced, Wildwood Court ($10) ground his way to the front, dashing clear for a three-quarter-length win.
The gelding briefly transferred to the Pakenham stable of Matthew Leek between wins, but eventually found his way back to Gebert.
Saturday’s win broke a run of 16 defeats. Wildwood Court’s overall record stands at 36 starts for three wins, six minor placings and $86,728.
