SA: Clark carries cup day form to HQ
By Peter Neall, October 23, 2018 - 9:14 AM

Apprentice Raquel Clark has proved herself one of the best young riders in SA with six winners in two days including a double at Morphettville last Saturday for her masters, Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas.
Clark opened her Morphettville account when Gotta Be Gold ($5.50) won the UBET Maiden Plate (1050m), first up at her fourth career start.
Clark, Macdonald and Gluyas completed their double when $2.10 favourite Wasabi Bob won the benchmark 75 over 2035 metres.
Clark dominated last Friday’s Murray Bridge meeting with four winners — Star Status ($1.85 favourite), Evil Princess ($2 favourite), Iron Max ($4) and listed Murray Bridge Cup winner Von Costa Glass ($31), who came from last on the turn to give Sue Jaensch a win in her hometown cup.
Big barns go bang
The power stables of Lindsay Park and Darren Weir shared the honours at Morphettville with Macdonald and Gluyas, producing a double apiece.
Sebrakate ($1.70 favourite) kicked things off for the Lindsay Park combo of David Hayes, Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig, beating two rivals home in a disappointing field for the 1000-metre two-year-old plate.
Sebrakate, a son of Sebring, came from last of the three under Dom Tourneur to make it two wins from two starts, having opened his account on the Parks track a fortnight earlier.
Hayes, Hayes and Dabernig brought up the second leg of their double when the $3.10 chance Fighting Dragon fought on courageously to win the 1200-metre maiden plate under Jamie Kah.
Kellstorm ($4.60) gave Weir the first leg of his double, swooping from the rear under Jason Holder in the benchmark 82 over 2600 metres.
Combining with apprentice Chris Caserta, Weir landed his second success when last start Valley placegetter Double the Magic ($8) came from near last to take out the benchmark 64 over 1600 metres.
Schildora shines
After forming a training partnership midway through last month, Richard and Chantelle Jolly recorded their seventh win from 17 starters when Schildora ($10) won the 1200-metre final of the Rebel Raider Series at Morphettville.
Well placed throughout under Chantelle’s partner Jake Toeroek, the $25,000 Adelaide Magic Millions yearling purchase may have her next start in a three-year-old fillies event at Flemington during Melbourne Cup week.
Doubles all round
Doubles were again the order of the day at Naracoorte last Sunday, with apprentice Kayla Crowther and senior riders Todd Pannell and Emily Finnegan sharing the honours.
Crowther won on Pellina and First Reward, Pannell on Euro Gold and Crystal Class and Finnegan on Casino Magic and Akerboy.
