SA: Birthday cheers as Clark sheds claim
By Peter Neall, February 19, 2019 - 11:28 AM

In-form apprentice Raquel Clark reached new heights at Morphettville last Saturday, outriding her claim and bringing up a treble with the win of Wasabi Bob ($4.40) in the listed Birthday Cup (2040m).

It was the 80th metropolitan win of Clark’s career, erasing her 1.5kg city claim.
Clark had her first ride at Devonport on June 7, 2015, winning on Rueason for trainer Barry Campbell.
Her win on Wasabi Bob was her 280th, at her 1751st ride, and her fourth listed win.
Co-trainer Andrew Gluyas praised the Rebel Raider five-year-old as a very honest type to have around the stable. He has now won three races on the trot and 10 from 40 overall.
Gluyas, co-trainer Leon Macdonald and Clark combined earlier when when Dalasan ($4.60) ran on from well back to win the 1100-metre two-year-old plate. The Dalakhani colt is unbeaten from two starts.
The middle pin of Clark’s treble was the Tony McEvoy-trained $1.75 favourite Lynch Mob, who swooped from the rear to complete a hat-trick in the benchmark 70 over 2040 metres.
The treble leaves Clark just two wins behind the departed Jamie Kah on the Adelaide jockeys’ table.

Clark already leads on the SA table, and she stretched her margin there to 11 wins with a double at Strahalbyn on Wednesday, scoring on the Sam Burford-trained Sanima Star ($3.70) and Big Call ($2.90 favourite) for local trainer Peter Moody.
Moody completed a race-to-race double when Red Dazzle ($5) scored under Claudia Lions.

Teo, way to go
Well done to Victorian apprentice Teodore Nugent on riding his first and second city winners at the Morphettville meeting.
Trained by dual licence-holder Shayne Cahill, Two Odd Sox ($7) came from a rearward position under Nugent to win the benchmark 64 over 1050 metres.
The youngster completed his double when he teamed with Murray Bridge trainer Michael Hickmott with Cannot Be Serios ($5) in the benchmark 75 over 1600 metres.
Brace for Brian
Veteran Strathalbyn horseman Brian Mueller shared the honours with Macdonald and Gluyas at the Morphettville meeting, saddling two winners at healthy each-way odds.
Joining forces with in-form hoop Jeffery Maund, Mueller opened his account when $7.50 chance Oamaru Owl led all the way in the 1200 metre benchmark 90 handicap.
Engaging apprentice Anna Jordsjo, Mueller landed the second leg of his double when Just Kappy ($7) took out the benchmark 70 over 1200 metres from on the pace.
Four for Fawke
Sairyn Fawke was the star of last Sunday’s Port Lincoln meeting, riding four of the eight winners — Foto Art ($17), John’s Last Song ($8), Synergy ($81) and Onward ($5.50).
The four-timer beat Fawke’s previous best — three winners at Goondiwindi (Qld) in August 2013.
John’s Last Song and Onward gave Murray Bridge trainer John Hickmott a double.
It was also a good day for Sophie Logan, who rode Artful Rambler ($6) and Social Media ($8) to victory.
Table takes cup
Well done to Goolwa trainer Dennis O’Leary on winning last Saturday’s Kangaroo Island Cup with Table of Wisdom, who is likely to tackle the 1700-metre Port Lincoln Cup next Friday (March 1).
