SA: Winning form is good form at HQ

If you like punting on horses that won at their previous start, you were on a winner at Morphettville last Saturday with six of the nine races falling to last-start winners.
The first of them was two-year-old filly My Ruby ($3.80), who graduated from a debut maiden win at Port Lincoln to a city win in the 1100-metre two-year-old plate.
Prepared at Strathalbyn by Wayne Francis and Glen Kent, My Ruby led all the way to give hoop Justin Potter the first leg of a double.
Coming off a Gawler win, Seemingly Discreet gave trainer Phillip Stokes the first leg of a double in a benchmark 66 handicap of 1200 metres.
Well placed throughout under Jason Holder, the $2.40 favourite scored by a neck from another last-start winner, second favourite Three Legs In.
Horsham trainer Paul Preusker got in on the act when promising stayer Dark Alley ($1.70 favourite) won the 2043-metre benchmark 68 easily under Declan Bates. The four-year-old Lucas Cranach gelding was coming off a maiden win at Geelong.
Stokes landed the second leg of his double when last-start Murray Bridge winner Shamino ($4.40) won the benchmark 82 over 1100 metres, coming from midfield under stable apprentice Gary Lo.
The win of Shamino was one of the last for Lo in SA as he will be returning to his native Hong Kong after the Adelaide Cup on March 9.
Potter completed his double on One More Jack ($7) for Strathalbyn trainer Shane Oxlade in the 1200-metre benchmark 68. Coming off three successive all-the-way wis at Port Lincoln and Strathalbyn, One More Jack again made all the running and romped in by three lengths.
Master Chum was the sixth of the day’s successful last-start winners, backed from $13 to $9 in the listed Birthday Cup (2043m) on the back of a fast-finishing benchmark 78 win at his home track, Murray Bridge.
Master Chum’s win was a major thrill for trainer Rob Wilkinson and jockey Eran Boyd, as it was a first black-type success for both.
Master Chum’s next start  is likely to be in the Group 3 2600 Lord Rheims Stakes today week before a possible  start in the 3200 metre Adelaide Cup on March 9.
Hoops on a roll
The in-form Justin Potter and apprentice Lachlan Neindorf shared the riding honours at Bordertown on Sunday with a double apiece.
Potter won on the Kate Jackson-trained Konigsberg ($26) and the Kristi Evans-prepared Keysor ($2.80 favourite).
Neindorf, coming off a Morphettville win on the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Regalo Di Gaetano ($4.60) in a benchmark 72 handicap over 1600 metres at Morphettville, scored with Iknow Where Youliv ($1.30 favourite) for Travis Doudle and Rhythmatic ($9.50) for Jamie Opperman.
Here’s Humphrey, again
West-coast cup specialist It’s Humphrey took out last Sunday’s Lock Cup (1900m) for Ceduna trainer Trevor Trenowden and hoop Murray Henderson.
The seven-year-old Hard Spun gelding won the Ceduna Cup last month. In 2018 he won cups at Penong and Streaky Bay.

No hoodoo on Guru
In-form jockey Jason Holder notched his eighth and ninth winners for the month of February at Wednesday’s Strathalbyn meeting, winning on the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas-trained Goldie Guru ($3.40 favourite) in the 1600-metre maiden and on the Trevor Dansie and Natasha Storr-trained Undesire ($5.50) in the 1100-metre maiden.
Goldie Guru’s win extended the remarkable record of Fusaichi Pegasus broodmare Glory Guru, whose seven runners are all winners. They include Gamblin’ Guru (three stakes wins including the Group 3 SA Chairman’s Stakes), Gossip Guru (six wins, Group 3-placed), Grumpy Guru (four wins), Gun Guru (four wins) and Glam Guru (two wins, Group 2-placed).
