Tasmania: Day out for Scotty and Georgie
By Adam Williams, April 21, 2021 - 1:16 PM

Scott Brunton and Georgie Catania dominated last Sunday’s Hobart meeting, with each bagging five winners.
They combined for four of those wins, kicking off with the lightly raced Sunset Gun, who came from just off the pace for a comfortable 2½-length win in the maiden plate over 1400 metres.
It was the first time the daughter of Poet’s Voice had figured in the placings, but she’s bred to be good as she’s a half to 2015 Launceston Cup winner Genuine Lad.
Catania then produced the ride of the day, securing inside runs to bring Travelling Gigolo from a rearward position for a narrow win in the maiden/Class 1 plate over 1600 metres to give the jockey and Brunton a running double.
Former Victorian Luca Bratzi later made a successful debut for the Brunton yard, coming from the tail to arrive right on the line in the benchmark 66 handicap over 1200 metres.
The formerly Anthony Cosgriff-trained Turffontein gelding had shown ability in Tasmania when in the hands of John Blacker early in his career and was well found by punters, firming from $4.60 to start the $3 fave.
Brunton and Catania then completed another running double with highly promising filly Reite Den Blitz leading throughout in the Class 1 handicap over the same trip to remain unbeaten from two outings this time in.
Brunton completed his quintet of victors with unbeaten filly Hela, who rounded out her preparation for the Group 1 Australasian Oaks with a soft all-the-way win in the benchmark 84 handicap over 1600 metres, while Catania was successful aboard the Tegan Keys-trained Amaword, who proved too strong in the open handicap over 1200 metres first up from a break despite racing wide on speed throughout.
