Apprentice Taylor Johnstone shaved half a kilo off her claim when four-year-old mare Wild Winner gave her the first leg of a double on the Parks track at Morphettville last Saturday.
The Andrew Gluyas-trained Wild Winner ($3.60) came from worse than midfield to take out the Dominant Handicap (1400m), for fillies and mares at 0-64 level.
Johnstone brought up her double when last-start winner Murph ($5) ran on from midfield to take the Class 2 handicap over 1250 metres for Murray Bridge trainer Paul Carey.
Johnstone shared the riding honours at the Parks meeting with Jacob Opperman and Teagan Voorham.
Opperman landed the first leg of his double when last-start winner Zoupurring ($1.70 favourite) took a benchmark 86 over 1250 metres for Phillip Stokes.
Zoupurring is likely to have his next start in Saturday week’s final of the Gytrash Series over 1200 metres.
Opperman completed his double on another last-start winner, Falaise ($7), in the benchmark 64 over 1550 metres for Murray Bridge trainer Stuart Padman.
Voorham’s first winner was three-year-old Valentia filly Skadoosh ($7.50) in a 1000-metre maiden for Richard and Chantelle Jolly.
Her second was Tosen Water ($5) in a 1400-metre benchmark 72 handicap for the Gawler stable of Gary and Nichole Searle and Brianna Callanan.
The other notable riding achievement at the Parks meeting was the first city winner for apprentice Isaac Sit.
Sit broke through at just his fourth metro ride, with the Wayne Francis and Glen Kent-trained Super Alana ($9) leading all the way in the benchmark 68 over 1000 metres.
