SA: Jason holds the cards
By Peter Neall, June 9, 2026 - 11:32 AM

Barring injuries or suspension, Jason Holder appears to have a vice-like grip on the Adelaide jockeys’ title, a double on the Parks track at Morphettville last Saturday extending his lead to eight wins over nearest rival Todd Pannell.
Holder opened his account last Saturday aboard Omaha Dawn ($4.80) in a benchmark 70 over 1000 metres. Prepared by Andrew Gluyas, Omaha Dawn had run a strong last-start third at Murray Bridge and ran on from midfield last Saturday to score by 1½ lengths.
Holder completed his double on Mystic Wonder ($5.50) in a benchmark 76 over 1550 metres for the local stable of Gordon Richards and Damien Moyle.
Jollys win and lose in stewards’ room
Phillip Stokes is in a similarly strong position on the trainers’ table, but Richard and Chantelle Jolly pegged his lead back to seven with a double at the Parks meeting.
Their first winner was Norheim ($3.60 equal favourite) on protest in a 1000-metre benchmark 64.
Rochelle Milnes on Norheim lodged a successful objection against Taylor Johnstone on the stablemate and fellow equal favourite Bardigrub. Skadoosh, with Teagan Voorham aboard, ran nthird to make it a stable trifecta.
The Jollys completed their double a race later with Harsh ($4 favourite) in a benchmark 78 over 2400 metres. Ridden by Harry Grace, who has built quite a reputation since moving from Warrnambool in the autumn, Harsh came from last with a strong run over the concluding stages.
Earlier, Stokes notched his 37th winner of the SA metro season when Australia Forever ($4.80) scored a first-up win in the 1250-metre maiden.
Baby kicks off big weekend
Travis Doudle was another trainer to have a profitable weekend, starting with the win of on-pacer See Ya Later Baby ($7.50) in a 1400-metre benchmark 68 at the Parks meeting.
The Sir Prancealot gelding brought his form successfully to town, completing a hat-trick after wins over slightly shorter trips at Bordertown and Strathalbyn in May.
Doudle went on to bookend the card at Port Augusta on Sunday with Pierroplane ($4.20) in a 1200-metre maiden and Star Casino ($3.90 favourite) in a 1396-metre benchmark 58. Apprentices Sophie Potter and Jade Doyle were the winning riders.
Todd terrific
Monday’s public-holiday meeting at Strathalbyn saw Todd Pannell take the riding honours with winning a treble.
He shared two of his wins with trainer Michael Hickmott — Platino ($2.20 favourite) in an 1100-metre maiden and Darci Lane ($5.50) in a 1350-metre maiden.
The middle pin of Pannell’s treble was in the other division of the 1100-metre maiden, on Extra Fling ($1.22 favourite) for David Jolly and Justin Potter.
