Wimmera: Honours exciting, rolls outstanding

Tuesday’s jumpouts at Murtoa produced a runner we can follow straight to the races at Mildura this weekend.
Bendigo trainer Stefan Jokic floated recent acquisition Top Honours to the Wimmera’s lakeside track, where the new-season seven-year-old clearly recorded the fastest time of the morning (55.43 seconds) in the 900-metre heats.
Jokic’s daughter Chelsea sat quietly throughout on the gelding, who was happy bowling along in front and was the only winner to break 56 seconds all morning.
The son of Danerich is the latest addition to Jokic’s Bendigo yard, beaten a big margin as favourite at Wangaratta last start in the care of Ken and Kasey Keys, but clearly capable of better.
Top Honours is likely to have his first start for Jokic in the 1409-metre 0-58 handicap at Mildura on Saturday, chasing his fourth career win at start number 41.
The other point of interest from Tuesday morning was the slow-cooked pulled lamb rolls on offer for breakfast, complete with gravy and mint sauce. Simply outstanding.
