Carr and Chloe nab Devonport double

Siggy Carr and Chloe Wells were the standout hoops at last Sunday’s Devonport meeting with each booting home a pair of winners.
Carr notched her first success in the day’s opening event, a maiden plate over 1350 metres, aboard the John Blacker-prepared No Access.
The gelded son of Krupt had been a beaten favourite at his past five outings but was again heavily supported on Sunday to start the $1.60 favourite and had to do it tough after being posted wide without cover throughout.
Carr’s second victor was also well found by punters with the Mark Ganderton-trained Far Away Hit firming from $5 to start at  $3.40 before scoring a strong on-pace win in the Class 1 handicap over 1150 metres.
The Devonport trainer has struck a purple patch of form having now prepared four winners from his past 10 runners and will be hoping that form continues at Sandown this Saturday when his super-honest mare Sirene Stryker contests the No Fuss Event Hire Handicap over 1300 metres.
The daughter of Stryker has been game in the placings at all five runs this time in, including minor roles in both Group 3 features for fillies and mares over the Tasmanian summer carnival. She  was being narrowly beaten last start on the Lakeside circuit where she looked home, only to be nailed late by Peter Moody’s promising mare Foxicon.
Wells’s first win at Devonport came via the John Luttrell-prepared Volkanovski who camped just off the pace before clearing maiden ranks over 1150 metres.
The 3kg claimer’s second victory came for her father Dean, uncle Troy and grand-father Leon when their charge, Copper Charm, led and just found enough to hold off the fast-finishing Gee Gee Al Prince in the benchmark 68 handicap over the same journey.
The lightly-raced four-year-old daughter of Street Boss has now won four of her 14 appearances and placed on another three occasions.
