Tasmania: Trinder dominant at Devonport

Adam Trinder was in hot form at his home circuit Devonport last Sunday, preparing half the winners on the eight-event program.
He opened his account with the heavily backed Rubick’s Affair ($2.20-$1.85), who finished off strongly from midfield under Anthony Darmanin to clear maiden ranks over 1150 metres at her first run back from an 11-month break.
Trinder then made it a running double with Miss Vivace, who shed her maiden tag over 1650 metres.
The daughter of Nicconi was a noted drifter in betting ($7-$12) but camped just off the speed under Erica Byrne Burke before dashing for home prior to the turn and going on for a comfortable 3¼-length victory.
Trinder’s third win came via his in-form mare Seydoux. Despite travelling wide throughout, she  finished off strongly to complete a hat-trick of wins in the benchmark 72 handicap over 1009 metres with 3kg claimer Jackson Radley in the saddle.
The ex-Victorian daughter of Xtravagant arrived in Trinder’s stable a nine-start maiden but has now won nine of her 14 Tasmanian appearances across two campaigns.
Tasmania’s sole Group 1-winning trainer completed his quartet of victors with Bao Bun, who took the Class 2 handicap over 1350 metres to give stable apprentice Byrne Burke a double.
The daughter of Spieth settled handy to the speed but got shuffled back approaching the home turn. However, once into the clear in the home straight, she showed a neat turn of foot to nail Chicane (trained by Trinder’s father, Michael), who had looked set for victory.
Craig Newitt shared riding honours with Byrne Burke, taking the first two events on the card. He kicked off with the Graeme McCulloch-trained Stars In The Night, who led throughout to break her maiden at the 22nd attempt, over 1009 metres.
Newitt completed his double on the Liandra Gray-prepared Go Jeanie, who pressed forward from a wide draw before proving too strong in the two-year-old maiden plate over 1150 metres.
