It was a banner day for the Bendigo Jockey Club on Wednesday, with fine weather and a terrific crowd in attendance for Bendigo Cup Day.
The feature $500,000 Group 3 Bendigo Cup over 2400 metres was taken out by Sayedaty Sadaty ($6.50) for Australian Bloodstock and Ciaron Maher. The Irish-bred five-year-old by Anodin edged out race favourite Quietness ($3.30) in the concluding stages.
It was a peach of a ride from Harry Coffey, who sat in the box seat throughout before producing the winning run in the home straight.
Coffey has an affinity with the Bendigo Cup, it was his third victory in the last five years, following Wentwood (2021) and High Emocean (2022)
The home-track contender in the cup was the Arthur Pace-trained Raging Bull, who ran a brilliant race for the locals to finish third at $61.
