Teagan Voorham led the way with a treble as female jockeys won eight of the nine races on the Parks track at Morphettville last Saturday.
Voorham kicked off in the second, a 1400-metre benchmark 72, when Teardrop Rotation ($8.50) came from last to score a first-up win for local trainer Chris Bieg.
Voorham made it a running double when Eventually ($5) ran on from near last to win a benchmark 80 over 2400 metres for Murray Bridge trainer Sarah Rutten.
Voorham later completed her treble when Hysterical Lady ($19) came with a sustained run to win a Class 2 over 1250 metres first up for the local husband-and-wife training team of Peter and Belinda Blanch.
Voorham brought up her fourth winner for the weekend when she took a 900-metre benchmark 56 at Murray Bridge on Sunday on Aztec Dancer ($4.20 favourite) for the Gawler training team of Gary and Nichole Searle and Brianna Callanan.
The other women to ride winners at the Parks meeting were senior jockey Rochelle Milnes and apprentices Taylor Johnstone, Alana Livesey, Caitlyn Munro and Caitlin Tootell.
Saving the boys’ blushes in the last was Todd Pannell on $1.90 favourite Extinguish, who led all the way.
Extinguish was a six-start maiden when she arrived with Wellington trainer Michael Hickmott from the Victorian megastable of Ciaron Maher. She now has two wins and a second from four SA starts.
Square go
One of the more impressive winners at the Parks meeting was the Richard and Chantelle Jolly-trained Out Of Square ($2.60 favourite), who stormed home from the back for a first-up win over 1000 metres under Caitlyn Munro in benchmark 68 company for fillies and mares.
The Hellbent mare, now with five wins from 10 starts, failed in both her black-type runs as a three-year-old last season but may have another shot at listed company in the Christmas Handicap (1200m) at Morphettville on December 27.
Guru’s gong
The Andrew Gluyas-trained Victoria Derby winner Goldrush Guru has been named the SA Thoroughbred Breeders’ Horse of the Year. The Matrice Award went to the Just family (of Matrice fame) while racecourse photographer Terry Hann won the Gerald Schlink Award for services to racing.
