SA: Partners' first pair as Florey fires
By Peter Neall, January 11, 2026 - 8:00 PM

Inman Valley-based co-trainers David Jolly and Justin Potter kicked off their first metropolitan double since teaming up at the start of the season when promising mare Florey scored at Murray Bridge last Saturday.
Florey ($2.35 favourite) settled on pace under Jake Toeroek before kicking clear for a decisive two-length win in the benchmark 66 over 1400 metres.
The Churchill mare has had three starts this campaign for two wins and a second to smart Victorian mare World’s My Oyster. Florey now has three wins from seven starts overall.
Six-year-old gelding Declared ($8.50) completed the Jolly/Potter double with his win in 0-70 grade over 1000 metres.
Declared powered home from a rearward position to blow his rivals away by 2½ lengths.
That win also completed a first metro double for apprentice Brooke King, who’d earlier won on Bamyan Buddha ($6.50) for local trainer Garret Lynch in a benchmark 72 over 1600 metres.
Enuff for now
Strathalbyn trainers Shayne and Chelsea Cahill will be eyeing black type with Enuff Seduction after the four-year-old completed a hat-trick with his victory over 1100 metres in benchmark 82 company at Murray Bridge.
After starting his campaign with a second to Bristler, Enuff Seduction had strung together 1000-metre wins at Morphettville Parks and the Bridge, but eased from $2.60 to start a $3.20 second favourite last Saturday.
The horse backed to beat him was the Darryl Hewitt-trained local Sir Now ($2.70 favourite) and the pair made their runs together from the second half of the field, Enuff Seduction getting up narrowly with the help of a 9.5kg weight advantage, thanks to Caitlin Tootell’s three-kilo claim.
Enuff Seduction is already a stakes placegetter (third behind subsequent Goodwood winner Reserve Bank in the listed Redelva Stakes last April).
The Cahills will likely spell him now ahead of the Adelaide autumn carnival, unless he convinces them he’d be a chance in Saturday week’s Durbridge Stakes at Morphettville.
Favourites’ day
Ben Price and Connor Murtagh shared the riding honours at Oakbank last Friday with a double apiece.
Price rode the bookends — the Luke O’Connor-trained Starnova ($3.20 favourite) in a 1050-metre maiden plate and the Travis Doudle trained See Ya Later Baby ($1.30 favourite) in 0-56 grade over 1400 metres. That also completed a double for Doudle, Oak Park Maddison ($2 favourite) having won a 1400-metre maiden under Caitlin Tootell earlier in the day.
Murtagh won on the Roslyn Day-trained Brown Nose Day Gal ($2.70 favourite) against 0-56 fillies and mares over 1400 metres and on the Garret Lynch-trained Greatestofease ($3.90 favourite) in a benchmark 56 over 2150 metres.
Punters certainly had the better of the bookies at the Adelaide Hills track, with six favourites and a second favourite successful on the seven-race card.
Lynch leads the way
Garret Lynch took the training honours at Port Lincoln last Sunday with a treble.
Lynch won with Holder Maid ($5) in a 1350-metre maiden, Zain Prince ($3.60 favourite) in a 1750-metre rating 56 and Lady Memphis ($10) in a 1210 metre rating 54. Apprentice Tala Hutchinson rode the first two, Sairyn Fawke the third.
Oakbank-based John Dunn and Krystal Bishop trained a double with Solar Gaze ($10) in a 1000-metre maiden and Super Valentine ($5) in a 1750-metre rating 56. Brooke King and Rochelle Milnes were the winning riders.
Whopper weekend
The country SA action this weekend kicks off on Friday for the Penola Racing Club’s Vignerons Cup meeting, with the feature over 2000 metres.
The Saturday metro action is again at Murray Bridge, while Kangaroo Island Racing Club opens its three-meeting season with a non-TAB card at Kingscote.
