Crimson gets the roll going for Kayla
By Peter Neall, January 22, 2026 - 10:17 AM

The girls are having a great run in Adelaide and Kayla Crowther maintained the momentum with a double at Murray Bridge last Saturday.
Her first victory came on Crimson Vine in the benchmark 78 handicap over 2000 metres. Prepared by Sarah Rutten, Crimson Vine came from near-last to score.
Crowther’s second winner was Major Rumble, who scored in benchmark 68 company handicap over 1200 metres.
Major Rumble is trained by Wayne Francis and Glen Kent, who completed a double of their own on the day. Earlier, they won with  Fast Bubbles who took out the benchmark 74 race over 1200 metres.
With Campbell Rawiller aboard, Fast Bubbles finished strongly after settling back in the field. It was the sixth victory of his 20-start career.
Timely win
Aaron Bain and Ned Taylor look to have a handy type in Zouwin. The two-year-old filly was impressive scoring in maiden company over 1000 metres, with Taylor Johnstone riding.
Zouwin only cost connections $28,000. Her victory was a nice pick-me-up for Bain after the recent passing of his mother.
Violet victorious
Morphettville trainer Travis Doudle has his stable firing and Violet Lovebug added to the good run, winning over 1100 metres. With Ben Price in the saddle, Violet Lovebug led all the way.
Henry happy with Oyster
Ballarat trainer Henry Dwyer was very pleased with the win of World’s My Oyster over 1400m at the Murray Bridge meeting.
World’s My Oyster settled back under Jacob Opperman and produced a terrific finishing run.
A first for Hannemann
Strathalbyn trainer Ryan Hannemann notched his first winner in his own right when Sir Leapalot scored in a Class 2 race over 1200 metres. He was piloted by Alysha Warren.
Foremmakate strikes again
Promising apprentice Caitlin Tootell enjoyed success aboard Foremmakate, who is prepared by Robert Hickmott at Ballarat and has now won two of her three starts.
Doubles for Metcalfe and Milnes
Stacey Metcalfe brought up the first leg of a double at Penola last Friday when the Sarah Rutten-trained Legal Drama scored over 1300 metres. Metcalfe’s second winner was Sharma Princess for Lindsay Cadzow.
Rochelle Milnes was another jockey to notch two wins at Penola. She scored on She’s The Rumour for Mark Lewis and Artpark for Paul Preusker.
Oakbank winners
Trainers Michael Hickmott and Chris Bieg, along with jockey Todd Pannell, took the points with doubles at Oakbank on Wednesday.
Hickmott brought up his first winner when the Todd Pannell-ridden Impact Storm won in maiden company over 1400 metres.
The trainer’s second winner was You’resogolden, ridden by Ben Price.
Chris Bieg’s winners were Magic Princess, ridden by Todd Pannell, and Prince Lucifer who scored under  Connor Murtagh.
