Tasmania; Aristopolos makes it six from six

Boom colt Aristopolos kept up his domination of Tasmania’s juvenile races with another brilliant display in the $45,000 Alfa Bowl (1220m) at Launceston last Friday night.
The John Blacker-trained son of St Mark’s Basilica faced the breeze under Erica Byrne Burke before giving his rivals the slip on straightening and cruising to a soft eight-length win with another six lengths to the third placegetter.
The highly promising colt is now unbeaten from six attempts and is set to have another two runs this prep, culminating in the Tasmanian Sires’ Produce, before being sent for a spell.
His win was the first leg of a treble for Byrne Burke, who teamed with the in-form Adam Trinder for her other two wins, kicking off with Magnaprime leading throughout in the open handicap over 1420 metres.
The gelded son of Magnus has had a great second campaign, with Friday night’s success his fifth from nine attempts.
Byrne Burke and Trinder then completed a running double with Cherokee Dancer, who enjoyed a box-seat trail before taking the benchmark 76 handicap over 1120 metres.
The Harry’s Angel mare’s win gave Trinder four victories for the night as he was earlier successful with McVeigh, who led throughout under Kelvin Sanderson to clear maiden ranks over 1220 metres, and Just Bobby, who scored a strong on-pace maiden win of his own over 1620 metres with Sanderson again in the saddle.
Mistruth goes again
Former Tassie mare Geegees Mistruth seeks Group 1 glory this weekend when she lines up in a hot edition of the Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville.
Now in the hands of Mark Walker, the daughter of Wordsmith closed well to place in the Discovery at Ballarat off a freshen and wasn’t far away in the Group 1 Newmarket at Flemington at her previous outing.
She draws kindly in gate six and looks over the odds at the current quote of $26.
