Codi Jordan was the standout performer at Devonport last Sunday, booting home the last three winners on the card.
She teamed with her former master Glenn Stevenson for her first two victories, headed by the promising Blameitontheboogie. He came from just off the pace for a dominant 3½-length win in the Class 4 handicap over 1150 metres at his first run back from a five-month break.
The gelded son of Sooboog is building a strong record, having now won four of his seven appearances and placed in the other three.
Jordan and Stevenson made it a running double when ex-Victorian three-year-old The Real Man proved too tough after facing the breeze in the Class 1 handicap over the same trip.
The former Dan Meagher rep has now won two of three in Tasmania and finished runner-up on the other occasion.
Jordan completed her treble aboard the John Blacker-prepared Thin Red Line, who did the chasing work behind tearaway leader Simply Deep before proving too strong in the benchmark 60 handicap over 1650 metres.
David Pires was on fire earlier in the day, riding the first two winners on the card.
His first success came via the Leanne Gaffney-trained debutante Buzzoffski, who led and just found enough to hold out stablemate Valley Star in the two-year-olds’ maiden plate over 1009 metres.
The daughter of Hanseatic is bred to be good as she’s a half-sister to former top local mare Deroche.
The win was also the first leg of a double for Gaffney, as she later took the 1350-metre maiden plate with Occasional Glimpse, who enjoyed a box-seat trail under apprentice Kirra-Lee Lane.
Pires notched his second win on the Jessie Bazan-prepared Party Day, who also raced on speed throughout before taking the 1150 maiden plate.
