Codi Jordan extended her recent hot run of form with a trio of victors at Devonport last Sunday.
She set the tone in the day’s opener, a maiden plate over 1650 metres, leading throughout aboard the Emma-Lee and David Browne-trained Cold Aza Beer.
Jordan teamed with her former master Glenn Stevenson for her other two winners, kicking off with the promising Blameitontheboogie. He enjoyed a one-out, one-back trail before scraping home over the fast-finishing Garcon D’espoir in the Class 4 handicap over 1150 metres.
The gelded son of Sooboog has now won five of his eight starts and is yet to miss a place.
Stevenson has a great record with former mainlanders and enhanced it when former Moody/Coleman rep Wild Dancer made a successful local debut, coming from just off the pace in the Class 1 handicap over 1009 metres to complete Jordan’s treble.
Barry Campbell shared the training honours, also preparing a pair of winners.
He opened his account with lightly raced filly Houlihan, who was heavily backed ($4.40-$2.90) before leading throughout under Chloe Wells to clear maiden ranks over 1150 metres at just her second appearance.
Campbell completed his double with Alpine Trout, who enjoyed a nice trail just off the speed before proving too strong in the benchmark 60 handicap over 1880 metres.
Darma’s back on deck
Dual Tasmanian premiership-winning hoop Anthony Darmanin makes his long awaited return from injury at Hobart this Sunday.
The Victorian-based regular fly-in fractured a vertebra in a trackwork mishap in January but has been riding trackwork for the Hayes brothers for the past six weeks. He will have mounts in seven of the eight races at Hobart, all of those runners looking to have genuine each-way claims.
