Wimmera: Jade quick to shine on the comeback trail
By Josh Miller, July 1, 2026 - 2:18 PM

Comeback jockey Jade Smith secured her first win since returning from injury last Saturday, piloting Dazzling Secret ($12) to a dominant victory at Wodonga.
The three-kilo claiming apprentice drove forward from an outside gate on the Mick Nolan-trained three-year-old, sitting outside the leader before pinching a break on straightening for home.
Smith increased her lead in the straight, dashing clear to establish a race-winning advantage by the 100-metre mark and eventually scoring by just under two lengths.
It was a sweet victory for the young hoop, who suffered a lacerated liver among other injuries after a fall at Stawell trackwork in early February, forcing an extended stint on the sidelines to recover.
Smith’s first ride back was aboard Dazzling Secret at Donald seven days before the Wodonga triumph. Last Saturday’s 10-hour round trip from her Stawell base was worth every minute for the emerging talent.
