The remarkable run of form being enjoyed by Kilmore trainer David Dean continued at Seymour last Sunday. 
Dean’s sole runner at the meeting was the maiden three-year-old gelding Works Dirty ($61), who had shown little in his previous four starts on raceday, despite winning a jumpout at Seymour in late April. 
Racing in the Mangalore Park Maiden over 1100 metres on a heavy track, three-kilo claimer Ruby Lamont settled Works Dirty three wide in midfield, giving the horse his head in the straight as he stormed home to win in a hand canter by 4¼ lengths. 
From his last 10 starters, Dean has clocked up four wins, a second, a third and earnings of $67,455 for connections. The stable might be worth following at Friday’s Echuca meeting.
Works Dirty, as his name suggests, is by Dirty Work, the Group 2 Schillaci Stakes winner who stands at Widden Victoria. 
Brothers’ brace
The Hayes brothers’ stable of Euroa (and Flemington) made a worthwhile trip to Mildura last Friday for the first day of the local carnival, returning with a double. 
In race one, $1.50 favourite Mike’s Hope broke his maiden over the 1400-metre trip in the hands of Harry Coffey. 
Later in the day the stable struck again in the $100,000 Mildura Cup (1400m) with another favourite, Run Harry Run ($3.70), also (aptly) ridden by Coffey. 
Run Harry Run was fresh up, having last raced in January. Jumpout wins at Flemington on June 5 and July 10 were an indication that the horse was ready to strike. 
The win took the horse’s earnings to $665,150.
