District trainers did their fair share of damage on a heavy track at Wangaratta last Friday, kicking off with Harry Caviar ($8.50) for Mansfield’s Gerald Egan in the Tim Aumann Plumbing Maiden Plate (2000m). 
The gelding, who turned five the following day, was having his 14th start and showed admirable toughness to get past Mission Taichi for a narrow win under Logan McNeil. 
As his name suggests, Harry Caviar is by Prince Of Caviar, the late, great Black Caviar’s son who stands at Riverbank Farm, Benalla. The presence of Montjeu on the female side of the pedigree gives a clue as to where the tough wet-track staying ability originates.
Later, the Sportsbet Race Replays Benchmark 56 over 1600 metres saw $21 chance Mishima, trained locally by Ben Brisbourne and ridden by Cory Parish, score from stablemate Torn ($6), ridden by Lachlan King. 
Completing a district trifecta in third spot was True Prophet ($8.50), trained by Jamie Gibbons from Seymour. 
It was a positive day for Brisbourne, who also collected minor placings with Cries And Whispers, Raven’s Glow and Raven’s Silver.
Later on the card Seymour’s Kevin Evans scored an overdue win with Bronco Revolution ($12) in the Enviro Liquid Waste Benchmark 56 over 1000 metres. 
The horse had been first emergency and carried just 54kg after the 1.5kg claim of apprentice Sarah Field. 
Apart from a ninth placing at his previous start just five days earlier, when slow to begin and racing wide throughout, Bronco Revolution had finished in fourth placing at four starts in succession, an indication that he was ready to strike. 
Andrew Dale of Wangaratta took out the last race on the card, the Pat Byrne Electrical Benchmark 56 (1170m), with Hellbent gelding Hells Son ($13), ridden by Ryan Hurdle. 
Hells Son has done much of his racing in NSW, scoring numerous placings, but all five of his wins have been on Victorian tracks.
He has a particular liking for Wangaratta, where he has two wins, a third, two fourths and a fifth from seven starts. 
Hells Son has now earned $146,235 for Dale, who owns the new-season six-year-old.
