Last week’s Murtoa jumpouts had punters reaching for their black books to jot down a pair of standout performers early on the program. 
Tom Dabernig’s speedster Shadhavar clocked the fastest 900-metre time of the morning, jumping to the front and cruising around under no riding to stop the clock at 55.19 seconds in heavy conditions. 
The five-year-old daughter of Pride Of Dubai won the listed Matrice Stakes in Adelaide in March before heading out for a spell, and looks to have returned in terrific order for the Warrnambool trainer. 
Another eye-catcher was Mitch Freedman’s four-year-old maiden Skydream, who was full of running through the line having begun her jumpout awkwardly. 
The daughter of All Too Hard is winless from six career starts, going down a narrow margin at Terang before being sent for a spell in March. 
Jumpout wins at Donald and Murtoa suggest a breakthrough win isn’t far away, and Skydream is worth following to Echuca on Sunday for a maiden assignment.
District dominates com noms
Wimmera Racing Clubs are once again front and centre in the nominations for Country Racing Victoria’s Community Club of the Year award. 
Last year’s winner, Horsham & District Racing Club, is in the running to secure the prize for a second consecutive season, joining the Ararat Turf Club and Donald & District Racing Club among the finalists for the award. The Casterton Racing Club from further south completes the field. 
Winners will be announced at the CRV awards evening on August 22, when Horsham connections can look to go back-to-back as Best On Ground performers following a stirring effort at last year’s event.
