Local apprentice Brittany Button kicked off her spring in fine style last weekend, winning on three of her six rides. 
Button, apprenticed to Gerald Egan at Mansfield, kicked off with a double for Bendigo trainer Brent Stanley at Mildura on Saturday. 
She opened her account with a narrow win on four-year-old Hanseatic gelding and $3.90 favourite Surprisatic in the Mildura and District Real Estate BM56 over 1008 metres. 
Button and Stanley went on to take the last on the card, the bet365 Same Race Multi BM56 (2008m), with Intuiti.
The French-bred import won two races at Eagle Farm for Sydney’s Archibald stable but had been through two more stables without success before landing with Stanley.
He had just one minor placing to show for his last 15 starts, but apparently someone had an inkling that he could improve at Mildura as Intuiti firmed at every call on the Victorian official prices from $31 into $17.
Heading across the NSW border to Gundagai on Sunday, Button took out the first race on the card, the Gary Readford Memorial Maiden Plate (1000m), on Tallingas Avanti ($3.20). 
Trained by Ashleigh Smith at Wangaratta, the three-year-old Prince of Caviar gelding was having only his second start, having run third on debut at his home track on August 23. 
Being by a son of Black Caviar out of the stakes-placed mare Dinkum Star, Tallingas Avanti is worth keeping an eye on. 
Button’s weekend heroics took her career tally to 74 wins, with a top-three strike rate of 27 per cent.

Marring her weekend somewhat was a seven-meeting suspension, which started on Thursday, for overuse of the whip on Intuiti. Her ban ends on Wednesday.
