Local trainers again headed across the NSW border last Saturday, this time to Jerilderie, and the results were impressive. 
Victorian trainers took out all six races, with five winners from central Victoria and five Victorian-trained trifectas. 
Wangaratta’s Craig Weeding was the star with a treble, and he kicked off in race one, the Ian Loyd Appreciation Maiden Plate over 1000 metres, combining with his go-to jockey Jake Duffy to score with three-year-old Street Boss filly Charleston Lane ($2.10 equal favourite). 
Second was the Saab Hasan-trained equal favourite Nano Bubbles, ahead of the Don Dwyer trained Love Dad, who raced erratically in the straight at what was just his second start. 
Charleston Lane was having her first start for Weeding, having had two unplaced runs for Grahame Begg. She’d won two jumpouts before last Saturday’s return.
Weeding struck again in the second, a 1000-metre benchmark 58, with Cilento ($3). Duffy was again the winning rider. 
Weeding went on to dead-heat in the third, a 1200-metre benchmark 45, with Pippie Pomar ($5) in the hands of Hannah Edgely. The mare shared the honours with the Erin Maher-trained Gargantuan ($10), ridden by Chelsea Taylor. Wangaratta’s Andrew Dale took out third spot with Prince Rupert.
Tatura trainer Iris Zimmerman won the fourth, a 1300-metre maiden, with Nicked Away ($13), from the Dale-trained Coachella Lass and Saraya for Swan Hill trainer Nathan Hobson. 
 The Elders-Bill Ferris Memorial Jerilderie Cup (1400m) saw Dale break his series of minor placings, $3 favourite Eamonn’s Memory successful ahead of Zetalyn for Fiona Watts of Benalla and Fox Appeal for Weeding. 
Eamonn’s Memory has earned a reputation as the cups king of regional NSW, having won the 2024 Griffith Cup, 2025 Carrathool Cup, 2025 Jerilderie Cup, 2025 Deniliquin Cup, 2025 Berrigan Cup and this season the Griffith Cup and Jerilderie Cup. 
The eight-year-old Per Incanto gelding has now had 88 starts for 16 wins and $307,700 in stakes.
The last, a 1400-metre benchmark 50, saw another Victorian-trained trifecta. Wangaratta’s Ashleigh Smith won with Imposing Tallulah ($3.60 fav) ahead of the Dale-trained Jingu Express and the Con Kelly-trained Final Quarter — the omen tip given the race was run during the thrilling last stanza of the AFL grand final. 
Victorian trainers who headed further north to Grenfell last Saturday had slightly less success, with just North Wangaratta trainer Steve Cunningham a winner. 
Never Out Of Reach, a six-year-old Outreach mare, won the 1000-metre maiden as $2.30 favourite at just her second start, following an unplaced run for Cunningham in January. Diego Montes de Oca was the winning rider.
