SA: Ban mars quartet for in-form Callow

Trackwork rider turned Murray Bridge trainer Hazel Fertier ticked off another career milestone at Morphettville last Saturday when six-year-old gelding Longer Route became her first city winner.
Carrying the colours of his now retired former trainer Mick Huxtable, Longer Route ($2 favourite) was on pace throughout the 0-64 Lexus of Adelaide Handicap (2014m) before bursting away at the 250-metre mark to record a convincing win.
The win gave rider Noel Callow the second leg of a four-timer, three of his winners coming in consecutive races.
Following doubles at the previous three Saturday Morphettville meetings, Callow now has 18 SA metro winners for the season, putting him eight clear of second-placed Jake Toeroek on the premiership table.
Callow brought up the second win of his running treble when All Too Mysti ($5.50) took out the benchmark 72 MM Electrical Handicap (1600m), also completing a double for father-daughter training partners Richard and Chantelle Jolly.
All Too Mysti led for most of the race before drifting across from the rails to mid-track in the final moments of the race, causing interference to second-placed Shady Thinker.
Jockey Jackson Murphy lodged a protest but the stewards deemed the margin — more than a length — definitive. They did, however, issue Callow a three-meeting ban for careless riding.
Callow’s third consecutive winner was Anahorish ($8.50) in the 0-62 Dave Loy Handicap (1511m) for the Morphettville stable of Phillip and Tommy Stokes. Anahorish settled worse than midfield before taking off at the 250-metre mark to score a strong win.
Callow had started his big day with the win of first-starter All Honesty ($4.20) in the Sportsbet Blackbook Maiden Plate (1200m).
The Robbie Griffiths-trained Frankel mare raced in a forward position before drawing away to win by 3½ lengths and looks to have a bright future.
The Jollys landed the first leg of their double when Beyond Mysti ($2.70 favourite) won the 0-62 Kirin Ichiban Handicap for mares (1200m).
That was also the first leg of a double for Toeroek, who later stormed home from the back on last-start winner and $3.30 favourite Golden Cloud to take the benchmark 70 Peter Elberg Funerals Handicap (1200m) for David Jolly and Justin Potter.
Another bright prospect
Perhaps the most impressive winner of the Morphettville meeting was It’sanotherbattle in the first, the Class 2 Sportsbet Jockey Watch Handicap (1050m).
Resuming from a spell and starting the $1.60 favourite, the Harry Angel mare jumped straight to the front under Lauren Stojakovic before extending her lead in the straight to score by 7¼ lengths for the father-daughter training combination of Shane and Cassie Oxlade.
The Woodchester-based Oxlades also trained the runner-up, He’s A Cool Cat.
“The winner was really impressive and the second horse made good ground after being held up for a while in the straight. It was a really good result,” Shane Oxlade said.
The win took It’sanotherbattle’s record to four starts for two wins and two minor placings.
It’sanotherbattle is out of the Nicconi mare It’s Been A Battle, whom Shane Oxlade trained for five wins from 11 starts including the listed Matrice Stakes of 2018.
