Tasmania: Boogie gets down to business
By Adam Williams, November 5, 2026 - 9:34 AM

Up-and-coming sprinter Blameitontheboogie stamped himself a genuine contender for Tassie’s premier sprint, the TTC Newmarket on November 20, with victory in Tuesday’s traditional lead-up to that listed feature, the $50,000 TRC Goodwood (1100) at Hobart.
The Glenn Stevenson-prepared gelded son of Sooboog settled handy under Codi Jordan before letting down strongly to wear down pacemaker Alpine Thunder in the concluding stages.
The past two Newmarket winners, Durazzo and Geegees Gemstone, both found the line nicely to finish third and fourth respectively.
Blameitontheboogie is building an imposing record, having now won seven from 10 appearances. He’s yet to miss a place.
Elsewhere on the card Leanne Gaffney’s promising three-year-olds Buzzoffski and Valley Star tuned up for the listed 3YO Cup on Newmarket night by fighting out a tight finish in the benchmark 60 handicap over 1000 metres.
Hanseatic filly Buzzoffski led under Luke Dempsey and found just enough to fend off her stablemate, who was strong late after facing the breeze throughout.
The pair have clashed in each of their five appearances thus far, with Buzzoffski now holding a 3-2 advantage, but the added 200 metres of the 3YO Cup should suit Valley Star more.
Tuesday’s win was the first leg of a running double for Dempsey, who also led throughout on the Adam Trinder-trained Kireina Marubrah in the benchmark 60 handicap over 1600 metres.
Mares were mighty
Top Tassie mares Geegees Mistruth and Swift Force lost no admirers when they filled the placings behind short-priced favourite Flying For Fun in the Group 3 Asahi Super Dry Sprint (1100) at Flemington last Saturday.
The John Keys-trained Swift Force led and gave a huge sight while the Mark Walker-prepared Geegees Mistruth looked a tad unlucky, hitting the line hard after being held up at a key stage.
Geegees Mistruth will back up in $3 million Group 1 Champions Sprint at the same track this weekend but has to take on the best sprinters in the land at weight-for-age and is rated a $23 chance in early markets.
No doubt she’ll acquit herself well but it’s hard to see her defeating Everest heroine Tempted.
