No laughing matter
It is incomprehensible that a race meeting, within 100km of Melbourne, should have to be abandoned because of a local kangaroo infestation.
While the sight of kangaroos bounding down the straight may have caused a smile or two at the Australia Day meeting at Hanging Rock, it is not a laughing matter.
Trainers, jockeys, owners, breeders and racegoers have a vested interest in seeing race meetings proceed without undue interference and in a safe manner.
Common sense suggests that the culling of this marsupial is very much in order.
