Let winners chip in
Watching the racing coverage on Saturday December 7 and the promotion of the National Jockeys Trust got me thinking.
Now I’m not sure who contributes what and in what amounts, but here are my thoughts.
I propose a contribution taken out of the winner’s prizemoney on each and every race.
Something like $2500 on a Group 1 race, $1500 Group 2, $1000 Group 3, $750 for a listed race or country cup, $500 for a Saturday metro race and a lesser amount on a midweek and country meetings, say $200 or something like it. It doesn’t have to be a lot each time, but with all the races going on each and every day, these small amounts will grow steadily and quickly.
Just a thought.
