Too close
I have rarely had occasion to be critical of Racing Victoria on race programming issues.
However, the decision to program two race meetings within 31km of each other on Friday January 20 — Cranbourne and Mornington — must surely have been an oversight.
Such a decision works massively to the advantage of Melbourne-based trainers and those based in the near north and east of the state but works to the operational and financial disadvantage of many of those who train elsewhere, particularly to the west of Melbourne.
I would like to think that this was a one-off error or anomaly.
