Richo’s column on rebuilding racing from scratch (25/7) included lots of great ideas and some not so good.
I am very much with his idea of restricting any one trainer to a maximum of three horses in each race.
In fact, running off that thought, it’s time the principal race clubs sought to restrict the number of horses that a trainer can have.
It’s crazy the big boys having 500-plus on their books.
It’s just squashing the smaller trainer and young trainers trying to get a foot in the door.
Surely 200-250 is enough for the Maher/Wallers of the world to get by.
They will still get all the bluebloods anyway.
