I fell in love with racing watching National Velvet as a child. For as long as I remember I have followed the careers of the Payne girls. I have in my possession a book signed by the Payne brood which was purchased from Winning Post newspaper — I hope there will be a sequel and a movie.
I am moved by the performance of Michelle Payne.
Prince of Penzance and all the connections are to be thanked for providing the most amazing finish to our historic race.
I bet $2 each way and do it for the love, not the money. My phone account is all the more healthier thanks to following Michelle Payne over the carnival.
I would also like to praise other female jockeys going around — Linda Meech, Holly McKechnie, Caitlin Jones and many others that put their lives at risk for the love of their sport.
