Wanted: risk-free world

I have not been following correspondence on jumps racing in the Winning Post, but it has received attention in the general media regularly when they feel the need to sensationalise one-offs while failing to report on the positives.

I have a share in two racehorses in Victoria (not jumpers) and enjoy the thrill of watching them race. I would be devastated if they fell in a race, but it happens, I accept it is a risky sport with large animals flying around a track at high speed. It also happens in both harness and greyhound racing.

If jumps racing is banned, what next? Equestrian events at the Olympics? Perhaps even the cycling tours because they too are dangerous.

Are we becoming too PC in today’s world? Now "we" want plain packets on cigarettes to stop smokers from smoking themselves to death. Soon pokie gamblers will be "chipped" so they can only gamble so much in a day.

Who knows, maybe they will ban Pauline Hanson for "falling over" at the elections one time too many.
