On March 6 I placed a bet on Luke Nolen in the Flemington jockey challenge at $3.50 with Betasport, Tote Tasmania’s fixed-odds arm. The meeting was abandoned after race six with Nolen leading on eight points, from Steven Arnold (5) and Glen Boss (4).
I enquired about the result with an operator, who informed me that there would be a refund. Not being very happy, I asked the operator to contact Betasport for an explanation. The answer was that Luke Nolen did not have an unassailable lead.
With the meeting finished, did a three-point lead seem unassailable? To me it did.
How many punters who didn’t have Luke Nolen in the challenge disposed of their tickets?
Betasport could not lose. Punters could not win.
