Overrated Rain
Manhattan Rain is another good colt, but not exceptional. His stud value is behind the headlines.
For example, a track reporter declared prior to the Hobartville that the horse hadn’t shown any sign of a temperament problem, so there was nothing to be concerned about!
Pardon my ignorance, but in my view playing up like a second-hand lawnmower at the barriers clearly is poor temperament.
He wasn’t that good either; his last win was nearly a year ago.
Numerous agencies declared him (beforehand) the "lay of the day" last Saturday, and rightly so. He has a poor temperament and it shows: beaten, beaten, beaten.
Similarly a Newmarket runner, who is also a stallion prospect, gets endlessly pumped up by interested parties. He ran sixth of eight as favourite over 1200m last run.
