Fair effort by apprentice Chris Parnham to ride the last winner at Ascot last Saturday at 8.25pm eastern daylight time, then the first winner at Bendigo on Sunday at 1.10pm local, less than 17 hours later.
He went on to win at his only other mount — in the fourth, on a pick-up ride that started at $31 — then headed to Tullamarine to catch a 6.30 plane back to Perth.
My usual policy after catching the red-eye special is to go to bed for a day or two. Then again, he’s 17 and I’m ancient.
