In regard to race three at Canterbury on December 4, Richard Callander (7/12) didn’t go far enough.
Watch the race again, side view and head-on. How on this living earth did Sam Clipperton get 10 days yet Hughie Bowman got cleared?
If Sammy’s horse even moved out six inches I’d be surprised, yet Hughie chopped off James McDonald’s mount severely — what I’d call extreme interference.
The argy-bargy between McDonald and Glyn Schofield was neither here nor there. But how Bowman avoided suspension when the kid didn’t is truly unbelievable, Richie.
I think stewards shouldn’t be making these final judgments immediately after a race. With so much other stuff to concentrate on during a raceday, perhaps they should step back and make judgments on suspensions the next morning, in the cold light of day so to speak.
