A bit rich

I’m finding it hard to reconcile the fact that Snitzel, the sire of Everest winner Redzel, is allowed to have the prizemoney from the race added to his tally in the Sires’ Championship (table).
Surely The Everest, like the Magic Millions and the Inglis races, must be classed as a restricted race as entry is retricted to horses owned or borrowed by the selective group of rich people who provided the sweepstake for the race by purchasing a place in the race.
As a result, the Everest is restricted to only the 12 horses these people choose and therefore is not a race open to all.
Indeed, it is more of a glorified Match Race, although we usually think of match races as being races between two horses, where a group of rich people have paid a large amount to participate and where the winner takes the majority of the stakes.
