Far out
What right do TV commentators have to make disparaging and sarcastic remarks about horses who have run at the farther-out tracks?
I have heard one in particular on numerous occasions pan a horse because it has run at the picnics or, for instance, Carrathool.
It is not easy to get a run anywhere these days and not everyone has either the money or the inclination to have a horse trained by a city trainer.
Having said that, these commentators need to have a look at the fields at some of these places and see how many of the better known trainers are entering their horses at these meetings.
I wonder how many horses these talking heads pay up for in an industry that gives them a good living.
Every horse, trainer and owner deserves to be treated with the same respect as anyone else and not mocked because they have to go further out to win a race.
Perhaps this commentator should take himself to some of these meetings and see how much enjoyment is had by both the patrons and the participants.
