Distinguished deeds
Farewell Ross McDonald, husband of Margaret, father of Clint and son-in-law of that superlative trainer of thoroughbred racehorses, Bon Hoysted, whose company I was privileged to share for a short time, so many years ago.
An illustrious racing family.
My thoughts are with Margaret and her immediate family at this time.
Ross’s deeds as a professional racehorse trainer need no embellishment — they are a matter of public record, as is the role played by his wife in his highly successful training career.
It was a distinguished career which included two Caulfield Cups, a Blue Diamond, a Golden Slipper and many, many more races of the highest quality. And a humble Kyneton Cup in 1978 with Permarest, in which I had a share.
It’s a record which makes him, in my (somewhat biased) opinion, a worthy future inductee of Racing’s Hall of Fame.
Rest in peace.
