Anti Aunty

There’s no doubt in my mind that the ABC has become a complete and absolute disgrace to sport.

There was a time when it was the conduit for sports lovers. It was revered and relied upon by sports lovers in this country.

Last Saturday on its Melbourne news service, after what was a fabulous day of racing from Randwick, one of the most interesting and important days ever, the thoroughbred never rated a mention.

Even Tim Watson on Channel Seven, who wouldn’t know a horse from a bandicoot and cares even less, featured Pierro, Atlantic Jewel and Ethiopia, no doubt on instructions from above.

The ABC featured a quilt-making competition as part of its sports segment

Charles Boyer, Charles Moses and Talbot Duckmanton would be reeling in their graves.

The only redeeming feature was that there was no surfing segment. Television stations apparently seem to think that we need to see these drug-crazed dropouts on our news services every night. We don’t.
